An experience unlike any other.
Here are my 5 tips for living on residence at college
Tip 1: Shenanigans
Be prepared for endless amounts of assignments, studying and confusion... But on top of that be prepared to spend the majority of your time doing absolutely nothing. Although you may be determined to finish the project or study for that big mid-term, somehow you end up in a fairly large "study" group with everyone taking turns trying to see if they can catch a grape in their mouth.

Tip 2: Endless hunger
Even with a meal-plan and food just steps away, you will always find yourself craving a snack. Not to mention the horrible college diet of noodles, pizza and subs... endless choices. Have fun adjusting to the college meal life, remember to never take the last slice of pizza, you might as well be eating cardboard.
Tip 3: Sleepless nights
People screaming and partying down the hall on a Thursday night because half of the floor has Friday off but somehow you got stuck with the Friday morning class. Being unable to sleep due to late night distractions.
Tip 4: Worst nightmare or best friend?
This is one of the biggest questions of first year residence; Will you get along with your roommate? Well you better hope so. With the wrong roommate your entire year could be filled with awkward silences and possible confrontations over the A/C and Wi-Fi bills.
Tip 5: BE NICE TO EVERYONE
After being around the same people day and night for several months, you get to know them on a more personal level. Although you might get sick of them by the end of the year, appreciate the connections you make in residence because you never know who you will see later on in life and how that could impact your future.
Have you lived on residence before? if so, let me know your own tips for living on residence.

  1. Oh how I loved everything about this post! My number one tip is to buy a phone case with a card holder for your res card or else you will end up in the everyday struggle of remembering (read forgetting) your card.
