Yay's, Nay's, and Maybe's: My guide to upcoming TV reboots and revivals

In the past while we’ve seen a lot of reboots of old shows and movies  make their way on to our television and Netflix screens, and it’s evident that this trend is not going to die anytime soon. There are so many revival’s in the work it’s hard to keep track of them all.  I found  a definite list of remakes/reboots  and picked out several shows that I believe will be good, have the potential to be good or bad, and what I think will be absolute garbage.

YAY

Gilmore Girls

My Thoughts: Okay I’m really biased about this one. As an avid GG fan I almost cried when the show’s preview came out. I’m all ready to camp out in front of my laptop with a nice big mug of coffee when this revival premieres. And with almost all of the original cast and several of the same writers, I don’t think A Year in the Life will disappoint.

Maybe

What: a sequel series to the 2003-’07 sitcom, which will follow Raven Symone as a single mother raising two pre-teen kids, one who has seemingly inherited her psychic abilities.

trippppp
My thoughts: I grew up watching That’s So Raven, so I would like this to one to succeed, and the premise sounds promising. I feel like this has the potential to be great if it’s executed well. So long as it’s still silly and fun, if anything I hope kids will enjoy it just as much as I did.

Nay

The Notebook

What: an adaptation of the 2004 film is reportedly in development at The CW. The series will follow Noah and Allie as they build their life together following WW2 in South Carolina.

My thoughts: Why. Why? I feel like a TV exec was watching The Notebook and had a little too much wine when they decided that making a series out of the flick was a good idea. First of all, the movie is thirteen years old. If a show was developed shortly after the movie came out I think it would have definitely had a chance at being successful, but it simply is not relevant in 20|6. I know some of you will argue with me, “But it’s a classic!” Well, I agree with you. It is a contemporary classic, but isn't there also an old saying that goes, "If it ain't broke don't fix it?"  I can’t imagine any other actors other than Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams playing Noah and Allie, and I don’t think I’m alone in that. It would just be weird. Not to mention a show that takes place in the forties about happy people building their life together? SNORE. Pass this cynical bitch the remote controller because I don’t want to waste a second of my time on this reboot.

So those are my opinions, but I’d love to know yours!  Do you agree? Disagree? Check out the list itself and tell me which ones you think are yay's, nay's, and maybe's.
Let me know in the comments :)
