HOW TO MAKE YOUR RENTAL FEEL LIKE HOME
I’ve lived in six rentals since moving out on my own and I’ll probably live in six more before I’m able to buy a home.
If you’re like me, you’ve probably spent too much on avocado toast. You’re probably renting an apartment because of it, too.
Maybe you’re only staying for a year, or maybe you’re hoping to stay in your rental for longer. Here are a few tips on how to make your temporary place feel like a forever home (even if it’s not!).
Make your small space feel like home by adding lots of lights. My living room doesn’t have an overhead light so, I’ve filled it with floor lamps and side table lamps.
I love West Elm lamps, they have such clean lines and are so simple!
PLANTS
Breathe some life into your place, add some green! Make sure to choose a plant that is best suited to your lighting conditions.
I love succulents because they’re so easy to take care of. My jade plant, burro’s tail, and dudleya are only watered every few weeks.
Check out your local flower shop for plants, succulents and pots!
TEMPORARY DIYs
Contact Paper is an easy and budget friendly way to update almost anything you can think of. Desks, floors, walls, you name it.
Command™ Strips are also a great alternative to using a hammer and nail when hanging photos.
FILL IT WITH FRIENDS
Have a good old-fashioned kiki! Nothing says home like being surrounded by the people you love. Grab your friends and spill the tea.
