Self care

                        Selfcare, Part I

Hi, my name is Nina. Welcome to my blog about selfcare!

I find that during stressful times (especially
being a first year college student), my body and
mind can burn out from lack of self care however it’s forced me to learn lots in the past two months about taking care of myself in order to stay healthy while staying on top of my academic and social life.                                    A balanced life of family, friends, self, career, other.

Eating (semi) Healthy At College
If you’re looking for an easy diet fix I suggest services like, college nutritionist but for others looking to take matters into their own hands, read on. The cafeteria food won’t always have a positive lasting effect on our health or pockets but with those of us with a meal plan, it’s used out of convenience. However I’ve still had to find ways to make 2/3 of my meals by going to my closest grocery store and collecting a few key ingredients that will suffice for breakfast and lunch.

The Canadian food guide recommends a specific outline for the ideal nutrients required in our day and it can be hard to achieve this especially when you find yourself with little time
and knowledge. But, I try my best to do the bare minimum and make sure I get a balance of nutrients.

2.     Yogurt
3.   Granola bars
4.     Milk
5.     Snacks
                        i.         Whole wheat pita
                       ii.         Sliced up vegetables
                     iii.         Hummus/tzatziki
                     iv.          Vitamin Water
                       v.         Oatmeal
                     vi.         Kale, spinach smoothie
You can also always look into recipes with easy ingredients and go on a shopping trip. Recipes that are quick and easy include, veggie rice bowls, pasta dishes and many more. Controlling the things we put in our body is a huge factor of selfcare.

What kinds of foods do you think should be a staple in a college kid’s kitchen?
