How to take Photographs of Moving Objects

How can you shoot an object while it moves?

Shooting an object, whether it be an animal or a ball or even a person, requires a steady hand and quick reaction time. This combined with the use of the camera’s shutter speed, is the most important part of photographing moving objects.

Personal Experience

This past summer I got the opportunity to go with my family to Nairobi, Kenya, which is in Africa. While there, we did a 10-day Safari around Kenya’s parks and it was a photographer’s paradise there. Seeing all species of animals, I had to constantly be ready as I did not want to miss any shot. By adjusting the shutter speed and have a quick reaction time I managed to get the pictures you see in this blog.

What can you do?

Familiarizing yourself with your camera is an important part of achieving this. By knowing your camera well, you can access and change your shutter speed at will. Practicing your reaction time on stuff in your neighbourhood will also contribute to this success. You can take pictures of:

·      Cars driving by

·      Local animals

·      Athletics

·      People interacting

No matter what it is, if you see something moving, grab your camera and go!
