Toddler Hair Care

Toddler Hair Care Tips & Tricks
Allyson Jordan

They’re cute and innocent until you go to fix their hair. Who, you may ask? Toddlers.
Last week I was presented with a challenge. On one side there  was me, the tired mom and on the other side an upset toddler determined to never have her hair done again. After some trial and error over the past 2 1/2 years I’ve come across some ways to manage my toddlers curly/afro textured hair and how you can do the same!

Living in Canada with its harsh winters avoiding dry hair with your little one is important. Curly hair needs moisture, otherwise it will be dry, brittle and unmanageable. Moreover the ingredients of the products matter even more when infants are involved.
Camille Rose Naturals Honey Hydrate Leave- in conditioner is a great moisturizer to use when combing through your littles one’s mane. It is a great way to keep her curls in a uniform pattern thus eliminating any snagging and tangling that often plagues curly textured hair.

My daughter simply loves this product! I’ve learned that her fondness for it is based solely upon her squeezing it on her hands and rubbing it all over her clothes, but a win is a win! Her hair loves it, plus it smells wonderful.

A detangler is great as well, Afro-textured hair can be tightly coiled, so coiled that it often coils with other strands causing knots. In mommy terms all that means is you’ll have a toddler screaming bloody murder as you try to eliminate these knots. The product line Shea Moisture has a detangler for that! Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Detangler is great for this! It offers a list of natural ingredients and it can be used in a variety of ways on your little one such as a applying it as a mist to rehydrate, or using it while detangling to define curls.

Aside from products, put on their favourite show, execute patience and they’ll be all smiles!

Curly, high bun or pigtails, Gabrielle is all smiles. Thanks to the products used to ease the styling process

  1. SO CUTE! Seriously, a cloudy day would dissipate at the sight of that smile. My cousin has crazy curly dry hair, and I know my aunt sometimes feels uncomfortable
asking for help, and maybe a little shamed by my other aunts lol so, this is timely and a great way to get approachable, private advice. I'm showing her the leave-in conditioner.
